Fighting to Restore Our Second Amendment Rights in Colorado

Our Constitution is not optional. It is not flexible depending on political trends. And it is not something politicians get to chip away at piece by piece.

The Second Amendment is clear: the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Yet here in Colorado, we’ve seen a steady expansion of restrictions that many law-abiding citizens believe violate both the spirit and the letter of that protection.

Here are some of the current Colorado gun restrictions:

• A 15-round magazine capacity limit

• Mandatory 3-day waiting period for firearm purchases

• Universal background checks on private sales

• Red Flag (Extreme Risk Protection Order) laws

• Raising the purchase age to 21 for most firearms

• Restrictions on so-called “ghost guns” and homemade firearms

• Expanding local authority to create additional municipal gun bans

These laws do not stop criminals — criminals, by definition, do not follow laws.

Instead, these policies primarily burden responsible, law-abiding citizens who want to protect their families, their property, and their freedom.

I believe these restrictions undermine the constitutional rights of Coloradans. They treat the Second Amendment as a privilege rather than a guarantee.

As your U.S. Senator, I will:

• Fight to repeal federal policies that infringe on lawful gun ownership

• Support legislation reinforcing constitutional carry protections

• Oppose federal overreach that pressures states into restrictive mandates

• Defend due process protections in all firearm-related laws

• Stand against efforts to ban commonly owned firearms and accessories

• Protect law-abiding citizens from being criminalized for exercising their rights

Public safety matters. But we do not protect freedom by eroding it.

We protect Colorado families by enforcing existing criminal laws, strengthening mental health resources, addressing violent crime at its root, and holding offenders accountable — not by targeting responsible citizens.

This campaign is about restoring trust in government.

It’s about defending the Constitution — not rewriting it.

And it’s about standing up for the freedoms that make America strong.
