Protecting Our Communities, Restoring Order, and Defending Freedom
Public safety is the foundation of a thriving society. Families should feel safe in their homes, children should feel safe in their schools, and businesses should feel safe investing in our communities.
Unfortunately, many Coloradans today feel the opposite. Rising crime, the fentanyl crisis, untreated mental illness, and weakened enforcement policies have left many communities struggling.
As your United States Senator, I will fight to restore safety, strengthen law enforcement, protect constitutional rights, and address the root causes that lead to crime and instability.
This plan focuses on practical, constitutional, and common-sense solutions.

1. Support Law Enforcement and Restore Respect for the Rule of Law
Law enforcement officers are the frontline protectors of our communities. They deserve support, resources, and respect.
Policy Actions
• Increase federal grants to support local police departments in Colorado• Expand funding for training, equipment, and officer recruitment• Support stronger penalties for violent offenders and repeat criminals• Strengthen cooperation between federal and local law enforcement agencies• Improve officer safety protections
Goal: Ensure law enforcement has the tools needed to keep communities safe while upholding constitutional rights.
2. Combat the Fentanyl and Drug Trafficking Crisis
Colorado has been deeply impacted by fentanyl trafficking, which has devastated families and fueled violent crime.
Policy Actions
• Strengthen federal border enforcement to reduce drug trafficking• Increase penalties for fentanyl trafficking and distribution• Expand federal support for drug task forces operating in Colorado• Improve coordination between the Drug Enforcement Administration, state authorities, and local law enforcement
Goal: Reduce drug-related crime and prevent overdose deaths by targeting traffickers rather than punishing victims of addiction.
3. Address Homelessness Through Treatment and Accountability
Homelessness has grown significantly across Colorado. Many individuals suffering from homelessness are struggling with severe addiction or mental illness.
The solution must prioritize treatment and recovery, not enabling long-term suffering on the streets.
Policy Actions
• Expand mental health and addiction treatment facilities• Support programs that transition individuals from homelessness to stability• Reform funding for ineffective homelessness programs• Encourage partnerships between federal agencies, local governments, and nonprofits
Goal: Help individuals recover while restoring safety and order to public spaces.
4. Protect Constitutional Rights and Responsible Gun Ownership
Responsible gun owners are not the cause of crime. Criminals are.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right of law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families.
Policy Actions
• Defend constitutional gun rights for law-abiding citizens• Focus enforcement efforts on violent offenders and illegal gun trafficking• Support national concealed carry reciprocity• Encourage responsible firearm ownership and safety training
Goal: Protect constitutional freedoms while focusing law enforcement on those who actually commit violent crimes.
5. Strengthen School Safety
Parents should never have to worry about the safety of their children at school.
School safety requires proactive protection and preparedness.
Policy Actions
• Expand federal school safety grants• Support trained school resource officers or security personnel• Improve threat detection and reporting systems• Invest in emergency response training for schools
Goal: Create safe learning environments while respecting local control of education.
6. Improve Mental Health Support and Crisis Response
Mental health challenges often intersect with crime, homelessness, and addiction.
We must treat mental illness as a public health issue while maintaining community safety.
Policy Actions
• Expand crisis response teams trained in mental health intervention• Increase access to mental health treatment programs• Strengthen coordination between healthcare providers and law enforcement
Goal: Ensure individuals receive treatment before crises escalate into violence or tragedy.
7. Secure the Border to Reduce Crime and Trafficking
Border security directly impacts public safety across the United States.
Illegal trafficking of drugs, weapons, and human beings contributes to crime in communities nationwide.
Policy Actions
• Strengthen border security enforcement• Expand federal resources targeting trafficking networks• Increase coordination between federal and state law enforcement
Goal: Reduce criminal networks that threaten communities across Colorado.
8. Invest in Strong Communities and Economic Opportunity
Safer communities are built through strong families, good jobs, and stable neighborhoods.
Economic opportunity reduces crime and strengthens communities.
Policy Actions
• Support job training programs and trade education• Encourage small business growth and local investment• Promote community development initiatives
Goal: Build stable communities where families can thrive and crime declines naturally.

A Commitment to Safety and Freedom
Public safety should never come at the expense of constitutional rights.
Colorado deserves leadership that understands both.
We must restore order, support law enforcement, protect individual freedoms, and address the root causes of crime.
By focusing on accountability, treatment, economic opportunity, and constitutional principles, we can make Colorado safer while preserving the values that define our nation.
Together, we can build safer communities for every Colorado family.
